It may seem kind of silly at first. Why would you want to narrow your choices on anything? Well, if you've ever been shopping for high chairs, you probably know why. There are so many choices that trying to decide on the perfect one can be frustrating. So before you log on to the internet or get in the car, make a list of the things you are looking for. Then if what you are looking at doesn't meet your criteria, you can eliminate it immediately.
So let's take a look at the questions you should be asking yourself first.
Double Stroller Evenflo
Do you want wood or plastic? Wooden high chairs are not just a place for your baby to eat, they are a nice piece of furniture. They will look good in your dining room. They may even become a family heirloom. That's great. But there are disadvantages too. Most don't have reclining seats, meaning until your infant can sit up on his own, you'll have to find another place to feed him. Most don't come with wheels. Most don't have dishwasher safe trays for easy clean up. Those are all features that are standard on most plastic high chairs. So do you want the beauty of a cherry, oak, maple or natural wood high chair, or do you want convenience.
Plastic high chairs come with numerous features. You should decide which ones are important to you. Remember the more features on a high chair, the more you will likely be paying for it. Things like the aforementioned reclining seat (how many different recline positions do you want?), and adjustable heights are pretty much standard. Do you want wheels for easy mobility? If yes, make sure they lock as well.
How about the tray? If you can put it in the dishwasher cleaning will be easier. You have to decide if that is a necessary feature for you. Another nice feature that's really handy is the one hand tray removal. It's easy to see why this is so good if you have more than 1 small child.
Seat cushions can be made from either vinyl or cloth. Cloth is more comfortable and looks better, but again, vinyl cleans easier. Which is more important? It's your call.
Some high chairs fold up for easy storage. If you're going to leave yours out all the time, this one is not necessary. But if you want to put it away after each meal, you should definitely consider this feature.
This one absolutely shocked me the first time I saw it. Some high chairs can actually be teaching devices. They come equipped with toys that are musical or teach shapes and colors. Some parents like to take advantage of every opportunity to teach their children. Others don't want their babies distracted by anything at meal time.
Some high chairs convert to booster seats as your child gets bigger. Again a convenient feature and you'll need to decide if it's worth paying for.
Ask yourself which of the above features means the most to you. Make a list. That list will make selecting your high chair much easier.
One final note. A feature that should never be up for debate is the safety restraint. Numerous children and babies are injured or even killed every year from falling out of high chairs. But even restraints aren't enough. Never leave your baby in a high chair unattended. If you have to leave the room, take the baby out first. It's common sense but you'd be surprised how frequently falls happen.
